Piston Assy for Industrial & Marine Engines
We stock piston assy compatible with Yanmar & Kubota engines, sold as complete units rather than separate components, and each one is cross-referenced to its own OEM part number, so fitment doesn't require guesswork before ordering.
What Are Piston Assy?
A piston assy is the piston sold as a complete, ready to install unit rather than as separate parts. It includes the piston body, its piston rings already fitted and gapped, the piston pin, and the circlips that hold the pin in place. One OEM number covers the whole unit, so there is no separate ordering of a piston and a ring set and hoping the two match.
Piston assy comes in standard size or oversize, most commonly 0.25 mm over. Bore condition decides which one is needed: a cylinder still at its original diameter takes a standard piston assy, while one that has been rebored during an earlier rebuild takes the matching oversize instead, since the piston has to fill the slightly larger bore left behind.
On a multi-cylinder engine, piston weight matters as much as piston size. Pistons that vary in weight from cylinder to cylinder throw the engine out of balance at higher RPM, which is one reason a piston assy needs to match original spec, not just bore size.
Common Piston Assy & Their Functionality
A piston assy does two jobs at once. The piston itself receives the force of combustion and passes it through the pin to the connecting rod, which turns that force into rotation at the crankshaft. The piston ring assy fitted to the piston handles the rest: compression rings hold combustion pressure above the piston, and the oil control ring keeps the cylinder wall lubricated without letting excess oil reach the combustion chamber. Buying the piston and its ring assy together means the rings arrive already seated and gapped to that specific piston, rather than gapped by hand during the rebuild, which is one less step to get wrong.
Piston Assy Brands & Compatibility
Fitment runs off the engine model and the bore size needed, not the machine the engine happens to power. The OEM number on the old piston, or the model stamped on the block, is the starting point for matching a replacement. Standard and oversize versions are not interchangeable, so bore measurement should come before ordering rather than after.
