SISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

Complete Fuel System Components for Industrial Engines

The fuel system controls how much fuel reaches the combustion chamber, when it gets there, and at what pressure. In a diesel engine fuel system, that sequence runs through feed pumps, injection pumps, injectors, and filters each component handling a specific stage before fuel hits the cylinders. In heavy-duty environments, the diesel engine fuel supply system works under sustained load and variable conditions. Construction equipment running 10-hour shifts, generators that can't go offline, marine engines pushing through

What is the Fuel System?

The diesel fuel system stores, filters, pressurizes, and delivers fuel to the engine cylinders in the correct amount and at the correct time. Both of those conditions matter. Too much fuel at the wrong moment and combustion efficiency drops. Too little and the engine starves under load. A properly functioning engine fuel system keeps those variables stable across operating conditions cold starts, high load, low idle. In industrial applications, that stability directly affects fuel consumption, emissions output, and how long the engine runs before it needs attention.

What are the 4 Types of Fuel Systems?

>Diesel engines use different injection system designs depending on engine configuration, age, and application requirements. The four main diesel fuel system types are:

  • Mechanical (jerk pump) — traditional design, field-serviceable, common on older Yanmar and Kubota industrial engines
  • Common rail — high-pressure shared rail with electronically controlled injectors; more fuel-efficient, more sensitive to contamination
  • Unit injector — combined pump-injector unit per cylinder; compact, no high-pressure external lines
  • Distributor (rotary) pump single pump routes fuel to all cylinders; found on many compact diesel configurations

Knowing which system your engine uses determines which components are relevant — and which failures are actually possible.

How a Fuel System Works?

In a typical diesel engine fuel system, fuel leaves the tank, passes through a primary filter, moves to the feed pump, then reaches the injection pump where pressure increases sharply before fuel is delivered to each injector. Timing and metering both happen at the injection pump in mechanical systems. In common rail systems, a separate high-pressure pump handles pressure while the ECU controls timing electronically. A marine engine fuel system adds complexity at the installation level. Marine engines run at sustained load for extended periods, which stresses the feed pump and filter differently than intermittent construction equipment use. Water contamination risk is higher on boats, so water separators are standard rather than optional. External fittings and fuel line connections also need to handle saltwater exposure.

Fuel System Brands & Compatibility

Sensei stocks fuel system components for Yanmar and Kubota diesel engines across industrial, construction, generator, agricultural, and marine applications. All parts include OEM cross-reference numbers.

Yanmar Fuel System

Sensei components are compatible with the Yanmar fuel system across the full range of engine families. Marine: Yanmar's marine engine line includes the 3YM30, 4JH, and 6LY series widely used in sailboats, motorboats, and commercial vessels. Fuel system parts for these engines require marine-grade specifications. The 3YM series is one of the most serviced marine diesels globally. Industrial / Construction / Generator: The 3TNV88, 4TNV98, 3TNE68, and 4TNE98 series cover most generator sets, construction equipment, and forklift applications. Agricultural: Yanmar tractor engines overlap with several TNV and TNE series models.

Kubota Fuel System

Our components are compatible with the Kubota fuel system across construction, agricultural, and industrial applications. Industrial / Construction: The V2403, D1803, V3800, D902, and V2607 series cover compact equipment mini excavators, skid steers, and utility vehicles. Agricultural: Many compact Kubota tractor engines share the same engine families as the construction line, so parts coverage overlaps significantly. Marine: Kubota does not manufacture a purpose-built marine engine. Some Kubota industrial engines are marinized by third-party manufacturers, but these are specific configurations. If you're working on a Kubota-powered marine installation, verify the engine model and marinization specs before ordering fuel system components.
